O2 Take Over 'Academy' Music Venues 10th November 2008 | by Aidan Williamson
Having already pulled out of their sponsorship deal with the Leeds and Reading festivals, Carling is further withdrawing from the music world with the news that their deal with eleven Live Nation operated venues across Britain is to end.
Instead fomer British Telecom subsidiary and current mobile phone giants O2 will take over the reins. The five year deal will see Academy-branded music venues in Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Oxford, Sheffield and Leeds all rebranded as O2 Academies.
While Carling's presence in music is in a state of freefall, O2 is making a bold ascent. recently, the company has similarly rebranded both the Millennium Dome and the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park under their umbrella (stop singing it!).
It is thought that the company wishes to use their soon-to-be-acquired extra heft to push their O2 customers priority tickets service. The takeover will commence at the beginning of the new year, unless you happen to be Chinese, in which case the takeover will commence twenty-five days before the new year, a date which in all instances can be safely called January 1 (2009).
Lager groups have welcomed the move, since it means comparatively drinkable beers will now be available for sale within the venues, although one member of the board did attempt suicide at the suggestion that Fosters were planning to mount a rival sponsorship deal with the venues.
The award-winning housebuilder is offering part-exchange to buyers at Redrow The Grange, its superb new development on the edge of the market town, helping those customers who need to sell up before moving in.
Tonia Tyler, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), said: 'With the average home in the East Midlands now taking nearly 14 weeks to sell, the longest in the UK, and requiring more than 12 viewings per sale, part exchange is the ideal option for people who want to move right away.
'It also removes the threat of a chain collapsing or the increasing practice of gazundering', where a buyer waits until the last minute of a sale before lowering the offer price.
'With part-exchange we take away the worry, look after all the red tape and leave our customers free to concentrate on enjoying the move to their brand new Redrow home.'
The part exchange incentive on selected plots means Redrow will buy a customer's existing property at market value (subject to criteria) and effectively swap' it for a new home. It is just one of the measures under the umbrella of re:assure from Redrow', a package of help, advice and incentives which are all designed to make moving as easy as possible from the moment of first enquiry right through until after the customer has moved in.
Redrow The Grange is well situated for access to Leicester, Peterborough and Northampton, while train links from nearby Kettering station provide journey times to London St Pancras of just over an hour, making it ideal for commuters.
There is a great range of four and five-bedroom homes available priced from 224,995 and 260,995 respectively.
