Other spots for other fish: Bottom fishing should come back into high gear with the swell dropping down. Clamming for stripers may come back at Romer Shoal, but dogfish may make it difficult off the Rockaways. Northwest winds usually produce blitz fishing for stripers and blues at many areas along the coast -- such as between the channels, Shrewsbury Rocks and off Island Beach State Park. Trollers will do best as they can cover more ground while fishing umbrella rigs, shad rigs and bunker spoons. Ling fishing is a best bet on deep Mud Hole wrecks.
